Our Journey
Hello we are Hazy Hollow Farm located in Head Waters, which is situated in the mountains of Highland County, Virginia. We appreciate you taking an interest in our operation. Fog and haze is very frequent in this area on early mornings and after precipitation, leading to the name Hazy Hollow. The elevation and temperature of this region provides excellent conditions for cattle to be raised.
The complete commercial and registered cattle operation consists of approximately 150 mature cows. In addition, we raise high quality replacement heifers and bulls to meet the needs of purebred and commercial beef cattle producers. We both are certified in AI (artificial insemination), and incorporate AI and ET techniques to build a strong base of Angus genetics into our herd. Hazy Hollow Farm also operates a hay making operation, which consists of approximately 500 acres.
We are BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) certified to insure that the best husbandry techniques are used to raise our cattle under optimum management conditions. We strongly focus on the humane treatment of our cattle and to provide a healthy environment for them to be raised and grow on. We enjoy interacting with our cattle taking the time to acknowledge and appreciate how our genetic pairings have resulted.
We use working dogs on our farm to help gather the cattle and this provides much fulfillment to us seeing the cattle and dogs interact with each other. We often try to capture these moments of interacting with the cattle and daily life on the farm through photography which can help show the true healthy and natural environment that the cattle are raised in.
